When Nicole & D’Ana met at work, they instantly became fast-friends (yup, they used the “F” word right away). Anytime they talked about their passions, they both always lit up (and yapped forever) when animals were discussed. That’s how they knew what they needed, and obviously wanted, to do. Pour their passion into helping animals. From the drive and inspiration of two individuals, determined to make an impact in the lives of animals, Nicole Jackson and D’Ana Guiloff founded Voice of Rescue.
My adventures in fostering and rescuing pets taught me more than I could have ever imagined. I knew that it would be challenging, but I didn’t realize how much - from those embarrassing dog mom moments, to chasing the animals around the house, yelling at them to leave their pet siblings alone. I knew it would be rewarding, but I didn’t realize how rewarding - having coworkers, family and friends tell me how much of a difference they’ve seen in the dog since being rescued, or thanking me for shedding light on what rescuing and fostering is all about.
The rescues and pets I have worked with have inspired me to preach the importance of rescuing and re-homing and to help rescues be the very best at what they do. I believe animal-lovers all share the same goal and that we can work together to elevate our own work. The more we can teach each other and share our successes, the bigger impact we can have on our mission. When we win, the animals win.
As an adult, there has always been a place in my heart and in the family for a cat (or 5), not counting the ones just passing through that needed a little love I could share (and OHHH there have been many). Since my oldest non-furry child is sensitive to dogs, we don’t get to have a dog in the house that often, but I have been lucky enough to have friends in my life that share their doggie’s love with me and to be able to foster a pup here and there until they can find a furever home.
Building a community of animal champions and working with Rescues to help them promote the wonderful work they are doing has become an obsession and I plan on doing whatever I can to spread that passion to the world.
Did you know that there are an estimated 6.5 million animals in US shelters alone? Or that each year approximately 1.5 million are euthanized of which 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats? That’s 23% that are put to sleep because Rescues and Shelters could not find them a home, their owner didn't find them, there was no space for them, or they were too sick to adopt. That’s truly sad and we couldn't let it continue without doing something, anything.
There are so many amazing people out there that dedicate their lives to rescuing and caring for animals in need, and we wanted to help.
But what could we do? How could just 2 people help and make it easier for Rescues and Shelters to connect with people looking to Adopt, Foster, Volunteer, Donate or just learn more about the cause?
Nicole started by trying her hand at foster pet parenthood, trying to share the safety and love of her home to make a difference, one dog at a time but knew there was more she could be doing.
D’Ana knew she couldn’t bring any more animals home, but could use her marketing background to spread the word even further, and to help educate people about the cause, sharing valuable information.
"Just talking about animals in need brings tears to our eyes on a daily basis (we go through tissues like crazy). So, we brought our skills together and that’s how we decided we needed to Help People Help Animals.
If we can make it easier for people to adopt or foster, then they will open their hearts and lives up to more lucky animals.
If we can give Rescues a way to spread the word of what they are doing out in the trenches, then they will be able to place more animals in a forever home.
If we can share valuable information in an effort to better peoples and animals lives, ultimately we can create a community of people that love animals and animals that love them back.”
Simple enough, reduce the number of at-risk and homeless pets by changing the landscape of animal rescue and advocacy through accessible and scale-able practices.
Our mission is to help people help animals. By leveraging marketing and technology, we're creating a more efficient and enjoyable experience for rescues, volunteers, fosters, donors, and adopters alike. In doing so, we're creating a community amongst the other tireless individuals working towards the same goals.
Simple, find a way to get involved.
Foster if you aren’t ready to Adopt, Volunteer if you can’t Foster. You can even Sponsor an event or just Donate food, toys or cash. Or maybe just share what you know and learn with others and simply be their voice.
Whatever you do, help spread the word because those 6.5+ million animals need all of our help.
Remember, saving an animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.
“We hope you enjoy the love of animals as much as we do, and that our passion for those furry creatures in need warms your heart, too so you can join us in helping as many as possible.”
Help be the Voice of Rescue.
